Why do I need a software update?
Geneva periodically provides our users with software updates to maintain compatibility with Apple and Androids’ latest development, in addition to new features as well improve performance.
How do I download the new software update?
The new software update can be downloaded using one of the following options:
- Update through the AeroSphère App (recommended).
- Manual software update (through the "Network Setup” located on the AeroSphère web-page device). Please note that when updating multiple AeroSphère devices, each device needs to be updated individually.
When will the new software be available?
The AeroSphère will automatically checks for updates. A notification of a new software release will be visible in the settings feature of your Geneva App

Software Update Troubleshooting.
Please review the Troubleshooting section below for problems during the installation process.
UPDATE WITH THE APP
To successfully update the software, the app version needs to be the 1.4 or higher (Version 1.4 will be available in April 2015).
1. Check to see if a software update is needed
1.1 Start all AeroSphère devices
1.2 Open the AeroSphère app on an iOS or AndroidTM device.
1.4 Go to Settings (upper right corner)
1.5 If a red message that reads, "Software update available” is displayed, an update is necessary.
2. Start the update
2.1 Click on the ”Software update available” message to begin the download process.
2.2 Click “ UPDATE “
2.3 Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
2.4 The update typically takes between 3 to 5 minutes.
Please refrain from doing any of the following, as it may result in an unsuccessful download:
Do NOT EXIT the app during the update.
Do NOT ANSWER PHONE CALLS during the update.
Do NOT PRESS THE HOME BUTTON.
Do NOT DISCONNECT the AeroSphère device from the AC power.
2.5 The AeroSphère speakers and Base led lights will change colors creating a rainbow pattern on each unit to indicated that the software update has been successfully installed.
2.6 Upon completion the device will reboot itself. The status light on the device will turn to yellow, and then back to green. This confirms that the device is ready to use.
Repeat steps 1 & 2 above for all AeroSphère devices.
MANUAL SOFTWARE UPDATE
2. USING A WINDOWS/PC COMPUTER
Watch the instruction video on YouTube:
2.1. Open a "File Explorer" window. Go to "Network".
2.2. Search for "AeroSphère" labeled under "Media Devices".
2.3. Double click the AeroSphère icon that you wish to begin the software upgrade.
2.4 A webpage will pop up with the title "Network Setup for Geneva AeroSphère"
Note: This webpage is running on your AeroSphère device.
2.5 Refer to Step 3 “Start your upgrade”.
2. USING A MAC / OS X
2.1. Open the Safari browser.
2.2. In Safari, open “ Preferences” > “Bookmarks” (or Preferences > Advanced in older versions)
2.3. Select the checkbox "Include Bonjour" (in older version click to check "Include Bonjour in the Favorites bar") under the "Bookmarks” bar.
2.4. Click on the bookmarks icon on the upper left (book icon) - the AeroSphère devices will be in the bookmarks view.
2.5. Double click the AeroSphère entry and the "Network Setup for Geneva AeroSphère" page will open.
If double clicking on the AeroSphére entry is not successful, click on the link again.
3. START THE UPDATE
Watch the instruction video on YouTube for further assistance:
3.1. Scroll down on the "Network Setup" webpage of the AeroSphère device, until you have reached “Software Update” (See image below).
3.2. Under "Software Update," use the dropdown to select "Network".
This will prompt the system, click "Start Update" to begin your installation.
3.3. In approximately 20 seconds the webpage will be available again.
The status light of the AeroSphère device will change in a random intermittent pattern.
3.4. Select "Choose File" to view the software that was downloaded in step 1.
3.5. Click "Update"
3.6. A progress bar will appear during the installation, and a message will be displayed, click “confirm”.
3.8. The progress bar will indicate when the software update will be completed
3.9. The AeroSphère device will reboot, showing a yellow status light.
3.10. To view the new version, please wait until the "Network Setup" webpage is available.
Next, scroll down to "Software Update", the new version is displayed after "Current Software".
ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO LOCATE THE NETWORK SETUP WEBPAGE
If you were not successful locating the local "Network Setup" webpage of the AeroSphère device, there are alternative ways to find the IP address of the AeroSphère device.
AeroSphère app: The IP address for your AeroSphère App can be found in, Settings > Speakers > Speaker1 >, under "IP Address" (i.e. 192.168.1.91).
Use an UPnP app: for example "UPnP browser" from Oppian on iOS, or "UPnP Scanner" on Android to find the IP address of the device.
Windows/Mac command line: Open a command window (cmd.exe) or a terminal (Mac OS X). Enter: arp -a
You will see a list with IP addresses. The MAC address range for the AeroSphère devices is: F8:f2:5a:xx:xx:xx (G-Lab GmbH).
Use the iOS/Android app "Mocha Ping Lite" (free app):
1. Select "Ping subnet"
2. All valid IP addresses are marked in green.
3. Chose a valid green address - if you see "State: received reply" and "Vendor: G-Lab GmbH" or "Hansong" \ the correct IP address is displayed. Document the IP address, as this information will be used in the next step.
Once the IP address is located, enter the address in the internet browser of your choice, the "Network Setup" webpage of the AeroSphère device will appear.
What discovery protocols are used to find the AeroSphére devices?
AeroSphère Small and Large: UPnP and Bonjour. AeroSphère Base: UPnP.
PROBLEMS DURING OR AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE
I quit the app during the software update process.
1. Unplug the AC power cord of the AeroSphère device for 5 seconds.
2. Plug in AC power cord back into the AeroSphére device and wait approximately 20 seconds, (The status light changes from yellow to green blinking).
3. Restart the software update process again with the app.
After unplugging the AC power cord, the status light blinks in a rainbow pattern, and the device is unresponsive while using the remote control.
Seeing the status light blinking in a rainbow pattern indicates that the device is in “software update mode”, and prompts the user to add the new software upgrade.
If you did a manual software update, press the refresh button on your browser, until you see the "Network Setup" webpage. (If this solution failed, go to the next step.)
Start the AeroSphère app - if you can see the speaker, go to Settings > Speakers > Your Speaker > and look for the "IP Address" value. (If this option fails, refer to the next step.)
Start the AeroSphère app (version 1.4 or higher) - select "Software Update Troubleshooting" this can be found in the help screen after the app has started. Another location is Settings > Speakers > Any Speaker > Software Update Troubleshooting. The last IP address used for your AeroSphère device is stored here. If this failed, go to the next step.
Use an IP port scanner, (i.e. iOS/Android app- "Mocha Ping Lite" (see instructions above) to find the IP address).
Once the IP address has been located, enter it manually into an Internet browser on your computer.
Thereafter, the "Network Setup" webpage of the AeroSphère device will be displayed.
Please Note: The webpage may appear a bit different (as the webpage is in the software update mode). Follow the steps below.
THE "NETWORK SETUP" WILL APPEAR TO LOOK DIFFERENT, AS IT READS "NETWORK PRODUCTS WITH AIRPLAY" (SEE IMAGE BELOW)
Proceed with the software update:
1. Select the file you would like to use under “Choose File”/"Datei auswählen”.
2. Next click "Start Update”, to proceed with your installation.
3. Upon completion of the installation, a confirmation message “The uploaded file is valid," will appear. Select “OK” to proceed to the next step.
4. The "Software upload status" cycle will load 0 to 100% twice during the installation process.
5. A confirmation will come across the screen upon completion of the download.
The AeroSphère device will then reboot and the status light will change to yellow.
